Аннотация: The Finnish pacifist movement had a strong internal dynamic. Until the end of the Cold War, peace activists adhered to the concept of international peace, which was accompanied by the establishment in the national consciousness of the idea of international solidarity, including at least the pacifists’ contribution to a development of the Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone plans in Northern Europe (NWFZ). In the context of globalization, author emphasizes a reduction of the most important activities of the pacifists and a departure from the political agenda. Despite this fact, the pacifists in Finland stayed seriously concerned about international trade in arms and production of weapons in industrial enterprises of dual purpose. On the other hand, the transition from a “hard” security policy to a “soft” one in the 1990s allowed pacifist organizations to tackle new challenges. By this time, there had been the Finnish Union of Peace, the Committee of 100 and the Peace Defenders among the most influential pacifists’ organizations. The economic crisis has escalated the need to find new sponsors, therefore pacifist umbrella organizations were interested in working with various movements and involved a large number of young people. It should not be denied that many activities were conducted voluntarily by volunteers. Finally, author mentioned a transition from the ideological content of the struggle for peace to a specific project activity, provided by the spread of computers and the Internet.
