Аннотация: This article is devoted to the analysis of evolutionary process of a folklore troll, which moves to the pages of the literary fairy tale. As a subject of study were chosen texts by E.Beskov, A.Valenberg, S. Lagerlyof . Comparison of folklore and literary fairy tales allows to say that the troll, becoming the author's character, gains bright anthropomorphous features. However, the humanifying often has negative character when this figure turns into the allegory of the dark side of human soul. Despite numerous attempts of the troll to get into the human world, all his efforts are doomed to failure. In turn, the person successfully seizes the territories of trolls by blowing up mountains and cutting down the woods.
