Analysis of the macroeconomic dynamics, as well as analysis of some financial indicators in comparison with other regions of the country results in the following conclusions. Economy of Republic of Karelia is decreasing, there are structural disparities in it, problems of financial insolvency in the manufacturing sector are growing, and standards of living falling. Budget of Republic of Karelia has a significant deficit; government debt is very large and has unfavorable structure. The situation has been partly caused by loss of corporate income tax revenues after recent changes in tax legislation that allowed the largest taxpayers to form consolidated groups. © Petrozavodsk State University |
