Аннотация: The article is concerned with the obtaining of the Reformation process in Europe and Martin Luther’s role. To this end a wide palette of life in medieval Germany was examined and several background and consequences of the reform movement in Europe were analysed, considering protestantism as a new direction of spiritual life. The reformation era brought with it not only deep transformations in the area of church and religion, but caused big shifts and far-reaching consequences in political, social and cultural European life. With the establishing of a new religion, a new rationality was brought to life as well, distinctive for western European countries.
