Аннотация: The study is a contribution to the development of the philosophy of education. The author aims to articulate more explicitly the educational potential of poststructuralist’s philosophy from the perspective of teaching a foreign language (English) at school. The author’s English teaching experience has provided an empirical basis for the study. Starting from the basic ideas of Derrida, Deleuze and Barth, the author shows that the practice of teaching English should be aimed at cultivating a person as a source of meaning-making activity. The article demonstrates that this personality model is realized by creating a person-oriented situation in the learning process, that includes a psycho-education teacher, a student-interpreter, and text as a sociocultural phenomenon. This educational model based on the principle of interculturalism and aimed at students’ searching for and generating meanings in the learning process meets the person’s essential needs for self-understanding and self-expression.
